Employees of Columbian Financial Group gathered at CHOW®, the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse, located at 3 Otseningo Street, Binghamton, on Wednesday, July 18th to donate over 4 tons of food they collected at their Binghamton offices.
CHOW®, a program of the Broome County Council of Churches, provides food to thousands of people in our community each month through its network of 95 food pantries, soup kitchens and meal sites. In 2017 CHOW® distributed 1.8 million meals to hungry residents in Broome County. Over 40% of those served by the program are children and, in fact, much of the food collected by Columbian employees in this drive will be used in the CHOW® summer feeding program for children.
Columbian’s annual food drive began in 2010 and in the past nine years has donated over 22 tons of food to CHOW®. In addition to collecting food at the office, employees assemble baskets to be raffled at their annual picnic, with the proceeds also being donated to CHOW®. According to Michael Fosbury, President and CEO of Columbian, “We’ve been part of the Binghamton community for more than a century and CHOW is one of our major corporate investments here.”
Columbian and its employees are proud to support CHOW® and our community, and encourage everyone to do the same. CHOW® depends on the generosity of the people of Broome County to help those who struggle with food insecurity. If you would like to make a donation, large or small, please contact CHOW® at 724-9130 or visit the Council’s website at www.broomecouncil.net.
